ECONOMIC CONDITIONS:

The following statistics reflect the current status of the community:

20-sliderThe unemployment rate is relatively high in the community, there are seasonal and part time jobs available to members who want to work. The community employers are the Band office, Health Centre, Head Start, Daycare, WRCFS, Keesee School, Keesee Gaming Centre, Water Bottling Plant, and Sewer Lagoon. The majority of work and employment opportunities are found off reserve some times as far as Neepawa, Dauphin and Brandon a 100 Km drive. Those factors such as distance and transportation and availability of child care services, sometimes impede some members from gaining full time employment.

With the assistance of the Keeseekoowenin Trust the First Nation is in a strong financial position to pursue or take advantage of any possible business opportunity that may arise.
